This is something I like to do after having worked on a long and time-consuming project : doing something that's the exact opposite, spontaneous and unplanned, a spur-of-the-moment smaller-scale release.

So after nearly two years of work (and counting) on my second proper Zwei Kreise full length, Athene Island (which should normally see release in the coming months), I decided to unwind by working on a new, shorter, simpler album : thus, A burial at sea. This was completed in give or take two evenings, plus a few hours for rendering the tracks and making the artwork.

A burial at sea was made as a deliberate attempt to do what's probably the closest thing to minimal techno I've done so far, using short bars, a limited array of old school drum machine samples, few sounds, even fewer synths and almost no effects save from reverbs and the odd delay.

A followup ep may or may not be on the way, depending on my mood and inspiration these next few days. In the meantime, you can enjoy A burial at sea right here.
